Painting the Scottish Landscape

About My Most Recent Series

My latest series was sparked by a trip to Scotland, where I was captivated by the moody colors, expansive vistas, and the striking contrasts between water, land, sky, and ocean. The blend of historic architecture, untouched landscapes, and lush greenery compelled me to create a series celebrating these memorable scenes.

Top Left Right: Walking in Glenfinnan, Boats in the Harbor

Bottom Left to Right: Looking Out Over The Quiraing Mountain Pass, Boats in the Bay at Low Tide

When I was travelling in Scotland I was impressed by the dramatic landscapes I saw. There was such a diversity of the type of landscape I saw on my travels. From the stunning vistas of wide expanses of green with mountain ranges emerging from them, to the ocean-scapes with towns and cities edging the water. All of that combined with the varying weather that affected the lights and shadows as well as the color of the landscapes I saw.

In creating this series I wanted to pay homage to the landscapes I saw, to share that feeling of awe with the viewers. I also wanted to dedicate more time to focusing on painting rural landscapes rather than the cityscapes that I had gotten used to painting over the past few years. I’m really happy with this series, and I look forward to showing it in person when the chance comes.
